Purple Feedback

In the spring of 2010, students from Composition and Performance of Music, Multi-Media Art and Technology (MUSIC 395) and Advanced Dance Composition (THST 387) embarked on a journey to explore the dynamic interaction between live movement and mediated sound. Each collaborative team developed a performance response to the prompt “purple feedback.” Running the thematic gamut (including psychedelic time travel, animated purple sculpture, and the “birth” of purple, to name a few), the pieces integrate music, technology and dance to create complex systems of communication and response. Epic in ambition, human in scale, the projects each in their own way interrogate the potential for human connection in a technological world.
