Jessica Berson teaches courses in Dance Studies all around New England, most recently at Yale, Brown, and Harvard, where she served as Acting Director of Dance 2010-2011. She holds a PhD in Theatre and Drama from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and is a certified Laban Movement Analyst. From 2005-2009 Jessica was Lecturer in Drama at University of Exeter in the U.K., and has also taught dance and theatre history, choreography, and contemporary dance at Wesleyan University. Jessica has presented her research on community and popular dance at numerous national and international conferences, including those of the Society of Dance History Scholars and the American Society for Theatre Research. Her book, The Naked Result: How Exotic Dance Became Big Business, is forthcoming from Oxford University Press; previous publications include essays in The Drama Review (TDR), The Community Performance Reader, and Bodies in Commotion: Disability and Performance. Jessica is also the mother of two dancing boys, Leo (5) and Henry (3).
